Standardized Testing

Faculty at all grade levels use assessment tools such as developmental milestones, benchmarks, work samples, observations and anecdotal records. For students in grades 3-8, faculty members also administer the nationally standardized Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP-4), which is commonly known as the ERB and is used by many independent schools.

The CTP-4 is a series of timed assessments administered over the course of several days each November. The testing program assesses reasoning, reading, writing and mathematics skills, and is a nationally normed test. St. Francis keeps a copy of each student's test scores each year, and these records are part of the information we typically send to high schools during the high school application process in eighth grade.

While CTP-4 tests do not factor into student grades in any way, the test results are considered in conjunction with a student's application to Pre-AP English and math classes.

St. Francis does not administer the state of Texas "TAKS" assessment to our students.
