St. Francis's 25 Middle School advisories participated in our second annual "Souper Bowl of Caring" Food Drive and Canstruction contest on Tuesday, February 13.
For two weeks prior to the contest, students within each advisory collected cans and worked as system managers, designers, and engineers to create a unique Canstruction. Then, on February 13, everyone came together in the Fine Arts Center to build. Designs ranged from castles and Olympic rings to a "Houston Strong" flag and the state of Texas.
In the end, Middle School students collected 4,900 cans of food for Fair Haven Food Pantry, which serves needy families in North Spring Branch. According to the organization's director, "This is enough food to carry us through the end of the year!"
Congratulations to the following Canstruction winners:
First Place, Design: Traber Advisory
Second Place, Design: Duran Advisory
Third Place, Design: Minotti Advisory
And the Harris Advisory came in first place in the "Most Cans" category with a whopping 407 items!
Thanks to our Middle School Wolves for their outstanding efforts in this contest—we are people for others!
