"In a unanimous vote, the board extended the offer of Head of School to Mr. Lovejoy. His love for St. Francis and commitment to deliver our mission with excellence is evident in everything he does. We have complete confidence in him," said board chair, Joel Moore.
Steve will succeed Dr. Susan B. Lair, who dedicated 16 wonderful years to St. Francis. She worked tirelessly in leading the school to become the largest primary–8 Episcopal parish school in the nation and set in motion the beginnings of our upcoming Upper School. It is with eternal gratitude and the best of wishes we see her moving on.
Since joining St. Francis in 2011, Steve has played an integral role in the St. Francis leadership team—serving as both head of Middle School and assistant head of school. In addition to his master of education in administration degree and bachelor's degree in sports science, Steve completed the prestigious National Association of Independent School's Fellowship for Aspiring School Heads in 2016. Prior to joining St. Francis, he served in various leadership roles at Holy Trinity Episcopal School, Episcopal High School, St. John's School, Grace School, and Northfield Mount Hermon School.
A constant fixture at parent meetings, sporting events, and even in the carpool line, he is a reminder of just what it means to be a person for others and to have a heart for servant leadership. "I have spent the last seven years in various capacities serving the children and families of St. Francis and enjoyed each moment," says Steve. "This school is so special in the way it truly embraces each child and the healthy development of kids in body, mind, and spirit. I am thrilled to be able to continue that service as the Head of School and know just how bright our future is"
