Abridged Tie Ceremony Remarks
Sep. 22, 2022
Dear 8th Graders,
It might not look like it, but this tie may be the heaviest article of clothing in your entire wardrobe.
So why is it so heavy? What’s in it exactly?
The reputation of the St. Francis School is in this tie. Whether you are at school or at home, whether you are on Instagram, Snapchat, or Discord, or a random group text, you carry the full weight of the school’s name when you wear this tie.
More importantly than that, the feelings of every 5th, 6th, and 7th grade student are in this tie. Their tears and fears are in this tie. In order to wear this tie, you must be able to carry the weight of nearly 300 St. Francis middle schoolers. By my rough calculations, that’s about 25,314 pounds. You also have to be able to bear the weight of nearly 300 middle school students with all of their anxieties, insecurities, imperfections, small annoyances, idiosyncrasies, and frailties.
How can you carry all of that?
I will tell you how.
Together.
If you aren’t willing to accept this responsibility. Don’t put on the tie, but if you are ready to accept this challenge, then wear it with pride.
Go Wolves!
