2023-2024 Musical Info: Grease!
Auditions for the 2023-2024 musical are this week and next, and you are encouraged to audition for THE classic high school musical, Grease!
- If you are unfamiliar with this musical, you are in for a treat. "With a hip-shaking rock 'n' roll score featuring hits like "Summer Nights," "Greased Lightnin'," and "We Go Together," Grease celebrates Rydell High's class of 1959 in all their duck-tailed, bobby-socked, gum-snapping glory."
- Auditions will start at the end of this week on Friday, May 11th and continue through the middle of the following week. To audition, please sign up for a slot to sing one of the selections (attached to this email) in the audition packet, learn the dances in the videos linked here, and act in one of the scenes in the attached audition packet. Please sign up for an audition time here. Each audition will take 1 hour, and you will be doing a song, a dance, and a scene with a few other students in that one-hour slot.
- Do you already have an idea of who you would like to play? Great, prepare that role by singing the song and acting the scene closest to that role in the attached packet. Sign up here.
- Do you want to be a part of it and don't know what role might suit you? That is fine also; choose a scene and song you like, and we will help you the rest of the way! Be sure to look at those dance tutorials! Sign up here.
- Do you want to join the big group numbers (ensemble)? Perfect, learn one of the songs and pick a short scene to read, and we will find a spot for you. Have fun learning those dances using the tutorial videos! Sign up for a slot here.
- Want to be on tech? Put your name on the list by filling out this form linked here.
- Our preference is to do a live audition. It allows the faculty to work with you and help find the best fit. However, if you are unable to make it to campus or the group audition times do not work in your schedule, please consider sending a video link audition of all of the dance sections, a scene of your choosing from the audition packet, and a song of your choosing from the audition packet in separate video links through YouTube (unlisted), Vimeo, or another video sharing platform. The deadline for these videos to be received to the email jdoran@stfrancishouston.org is Wednesday, May 17th. We will acknowledge receipt of your email with a reply. If you do not get a response, your email did not go through.
- The available roles are categorized as the T-Birds/Burger Palace Boys (Danny, Kenickie, Roger, Doody, Sonny, and Others), the Pink Ladies (Sandy, Rizzo, Jan, Frenchy, Marty, and Others), Supporting Characters (Eugene, Teen Angel, Johnny Casino, Vince Vontane, Patty, Mrs. Lynch, Radio Voice, Cha-Cha, and Others), the Greaser Ensemble, Teen Angel Chorus, and the Ensemble.
- If you have any further questions or need any further assistance in preparation, please contact:
Justin Doran (Director) jdoran@stfrancishouston.org
Krissy Richmond (Choreographer) krichmond@stfrancishouston.org
Kathy Clarke (Music Auditions) kclarke@stfrancishouston.org
