Athletics and Physical Education

Primary School Motor Development Classes

Through rhymes, songs, games and movement, St. Francis Primary School students learn how their bodies work and move. Lively activities, relaxing exercises, and active stretches help them develop fine and gross motor skills and prepare for specific and creative movement throughout their lives.

K–5 Physical Education and League Sports

Lower School and fifth-grade students participate in world-class physical education classes modeled after Dr. Robert Pangrazi’s positive, inclusive Dynamic Physical Education philosophy. In addition, students in kindergarten through fifth grade have the opportunity to participate in a variety of youth sports through the St. Francis Sports Association, a program of St. Francis Episcopal Church.

Middle School Athletics and Physical Education

Our unique no-cut policy means we have a team for everyone who wants to play. Ninety-seven percent of students in grades 6–8 play on at least one athletics team per season, and 96 percent play on two or more.

Sports offered include baseball, basketball, cross country, field hockey, football, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling.

Middle School students in grades 6 through 8 who choose not to play or manage a sport for a given season instead participate in high-quality physical education, including time in the fitness center.
