St. Francis Music : Create Your Sound

The St. Francis Music Program brings creativity, collaboration, and passion to life. Built around the four musical pillars of performance, theory, history, and technology, students gain techniques and tools to successfully perform music from various styles, genres, eras, and cultures. Our esteemed faculty builds essential cultural and historical contexts and connections, as students deepen their understanding of music as a part of human cultures worldwide.

Primary School

The Primary School Music Program fosters child development and well-being through joyful song and play. In a safe and nurturing environment, students are welcome to discover their voice and strengthen their confidence through music exploration. Hands-on instrument exploration, movement, and singing supports the early childhood milestones of social and emotional learning, language and literacy, self-expression, and motor skills.

Lower School

Lower School Music offers dynamic and interactive experiences. With a curriculum that encompasses a wide range of activities, students explore music through singing, movement, listening, reading, writing, improvising, composing, and playing instruments. The curriculum includes a diverse array of activities aimed at sparking the interests and talents of every child, while fostering an understanding of musical elements.

Students have the opportunity to join Joyful Sounds Choir (grades 3 & 4), Chapel Council Song Leaders, and grade-level Christmas Concerts.

Middle School

Middle School Music brings out the artist in each student through participation in performance-based ensembles and exploration of digital music. Digital music turns students into songwriters, remix artists, and producers using a suite of programs.

With regular performances at school events, concerts, chapel services, and retirement homes, Middle School Choir embodies St. Francis’ commitment to being People for Others. Students receive comprehensive vocal training while exploring a diverse repertoire, leading many choir members to participate in prestigious honor choirs with OAKE, TPSMEA, and ACDA.

Upper School

Everyone has an inner artist! Upper School Music offers something for every student, from beginners to advanced musicians. With comprehensive course offerings and performance opportunities, students gain techniques and tools to successfully perform music from a variety of styles, genres, eras, and cultures.
