Visual Arts

The St. Francis Visual Arts program combines the elements of art and design with a focus on developing a context for discussion, critical appreciation, and the individual student artist's visual language.

The student is encouraged to make bold, vibrant choices. Through the study and practice of composition, value, space, texture, unity, movement, line, form, color, and shape, students experiment with a variety of media to create both two-dimensional (i.e. painting, drawing) and three-dimensional (i.e. sculpture, ceramics) works in their unique personal style. Students are asked to recognize, analyze, and interpret political, cultural, social, religious, and psychological concepts and themes in art while developing both local connections and global connections between the arts and other disciplines.
