Primary School

The first three years of a child’s life are critical for the development of language, socialization, and problem-solving skills. In our Primary School, passionate teachers understand that children are naturally curious and provide rich opportunities for them to explore, investigate, ask questions, and take safe risks as they wonder and learn about their world.

Based on a Reggio Emilia-inspired, project-based approach,  we agree that "the environment is the third teacher." Along with children and adults, the environment is pivotal in supporting children’s cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth and development.

A Positive Path for Learning

At St. Francis, we offer an enriched preschool curriculum that is planned, implemented, and continually revised by degreed professionals who have the knowledge and skills to create a student-centered, developmentally appropriate program.

Through constructive play, the Primary School provides our preschoolers with opportunities for positive social and emotional interactions in a nurturing environment. We are focused on creating a community of respect and compassion where children learn to express themselves creatively, make decisions, work with others, cultivate reason and logical thinking, and develop through increased responsibility and independence.

We value play and dedicate time and space to honor this critical component in the early years of our students’ growth.  Building a supportive and collaborative community based on mutual respect, allows children and adults to learn together through a joyful journey in the Primary School.
