Harvey Response

At St. Francis Episcopal School, we are living our mission to be people for others. It is in that spirit that we have, in conjunction with St. Francis Episcopal Church, created the St. Francis One Community Disaster Relief Fund. Financial contributions are being accepted to help those in our community with immediate needs in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and in the event of future natural disasters.

Make a gift or drop your gift off at the school office on the Main Campus. Please contact Faith Cohen at 713.458.6129 or FCohen@StFrancisHouston.org with any questions.

Letter to the Community

September 8, 2017

Good evening St. Francis family,

With our final Harvey-related update, we’d like to tell you once more just how moved we are by seeing the amount of support this community has shown. Our faculty is more excited than ever to create another year of memories to last a lifetime.

Wasn’t Market Day fun! It was great to see so many of you and your families back on campus. The energy our students bring to our hallways is indescribable, and it’s wonderful to have our campus feeling like home again. We know how crazy life has been these past few weeks, and we wanted to make things a little easier, while making sure you had first-day photos to commemorate this school year. Click here and you will find a photo prop for your child’s first day back to school. To use, select your child’s grade, print the sign, add your child’s name, and you’re ready for a photo shoot! We look forward to seeing all those bright and smiling faces, so please post and share your pics on social media. Be sure to include #WeAreWolves and tag us @StFrancisHouston on our Facebook and Instagram pages. If your profiles are private, please send us a direct message so that we can see those perfect pics!

Please continue to share with us photos telling your stories of resilience and service in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. You can send those by e-mailing Info@StFrancisHouston.org. The Harvey Response page of our website is still active—and will be for some time. This is here for you to find available resources or ways you can still be of service to those in need. As always, if you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at 713.253.4823 or SLair@StFrancisHouston.org.

Finally, a few key updates and reminders for next week:

  • Lower School Parent Information Night is Tuesday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m.
  • To help with traffic flow, we will be releasing grades K–1 at 2:50 p.m. and grades 2–4 at 3:00 p.m.
  • The police department has informed us they will not be allowing cars to stop or park at all on Piney Point Rd. Additionally, because of the heavy traffic, there is a possibility that police officers will have to direct traffic north for afternoon carpools on both campuses.
  • If you are able, you may want to bike, walk, or ride your golf cart to campus because of the amount of traffic. The police department has approved the use of golf carts.
  • While navigation apps like Waze can help cut down on some of the traffic you are experiencing, they are also clogging up side and back streets and creating constraints due to the Beltway 8 closures.
  • Most of all, please be patient as we are finding the best ways to navigate this situation.
